IDC Releases 2019 Data for China’s AI Server Market: Inspur Leads with a Share over 50%

15 May 2020

Recently, IDC released the 2019 PRC AI Infrastructure Tracker. According to the report, China’s AI server market size reached 2.33 billion US dollars in 2019, with a year-on-year increase of 57.9%, twice the growth rate of the global AI server market. Inspur’s overall market share once again exceeded 50%, ranking first for three consecutive years.

AI Servers Market share

According to IDC, global AI server market has reached USD 9.9 billion in 2019. The proportion of China’s AI server market size relative to the global market size has increased from 19.2% in 2018 to 23.5% in 2019. The Internet sector remains the largest segment in the AI server market, accounting for 47.0% of the market size. The typical application scenarios include precision marketing, like image recognition and intelligent customer service in e-commerce, as well as content review, face recognition and intelligent writing in video. In particular, since the second half of 2019, with the explosive growth of short video and online education businesses, short video-related applications focused on filters, video editing, and cross-platform sharing have accelerated the rapid expansion of AI algorithm applications like smart recommendation. Meanwhile, the continued popularity of online education has also spawned the application of AI detection and analysis scenarios dealing with multiple dimensions like facial expressions, movements and gestures. In traditional industries, IT services, energy, communications, transportation, and construction were the five industries with the fastest growth rates, seeing year-on-year growth rates exceeding 100%. As AI applications in traditional industries enter the stage of large-scale deployment, the industrialized application of AI accelerates further.
